The girls’ varsity volleyball team defeated Marin Catholic in three games Friday night as many students and parents watched the rivalry game.
The Giants won the first game 25-23, the second 25-18, and finished strong with a 25-19 victory.
Tension between the two rival teams ran high as the scores were constantly tied, and students enthusiastically chanted their support.
According to senior libero Lily Barber, the team implemented a new method of substituting out players to allow specific players to be on the court, which proved to be effective despite only having practiced the strategy for one day.
“Our setter, Mari Molina, connected really well with the hitters all night and we put a lot of pressure on MC’s serve receive by being aggressive on the service line,” Barber said.
This was the team’s second league game of the season after beating San Marin in three straight games.
They will face Marin Catholic again on Oct. 21 and will play their next game on Friday, Sept. 25, against Branson at College of Marin.
