
Nicotine prevention assembly:
On March 11, a schoolwide assembly was held in the big gym featuring guest speaker Kyle Wimmer. Wimmer spoke about his own struggles with addiction, and went into depth on the recovery process to motivate and educate students about the dangers of the drug. The assembly was organized by the Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE) team, with support from the Redwood High School Foundation.The presentation was interactive, lively and left a lasting impact on student attendees.

Boys varsity baseball defeats Novato:
On March 13 at 4:30 p.m., the boys varsity baseball team took on Novato. The Giants were down two runs in the first inning, but slowly rallied their way back to tie the game at 2-2 in the fourth inning before Novato recaptured the lead. The Giants put up four runs in the sixth inning and never gave the lead back, leading them to a 6-4 victory. The Giants hope to keep momentum as they head into next week’s games against Archie Williams on March 17 and March 20.

Community Yondr pouch forum:
Concerns about student smartphone usage drew parents and community members together at the school library on March 11 for a public forum. The discussion was hosted by Tamalpais Union High School District (TUHSD) Superintendent Dr. Courtney Goode. During the meeting, Goode explained how smartphones are addictive, harm student mental health and impair learning. District officials presented several possible policy changes to address concerns, including banning phones, requiring them to stay in backpacks or implementing Yondr locking pouches. The TUHSD board will continue discussing the issue at its March 24 meeting.
