The second semester started off strong with Club Day at lunch on Jan. 21 and Jan 22. Students crowded around the South Lawn, and all the tables were filled with posters, candy and interactive games. With over 90 clubs in attendance, students had a wide range of options to sign up for.
Tables were packed with different student-run clubs that learn about chess, Formula One (F1) racing and other clubs unique to Redwood like Giants Studio and Interact Club. Sophomore Amalia Quaroni is the founder of the F1 Club that meets on Mondays in room 225.
“I started this club because F1 is a really important sport in my family since my grandparents are from Italy. We’ve always watched [it] in my family, and I wanted to bring it to Redwood,” Quaroni said.
Clubs allow students to connect over shared interests. Junior Yali Dancig-Perlman is the president of the Chess Club that meets on Wednesday in room 210, and enjoys bringing a wide-range of students to teach people how to play chess.
The Interact Club, which was restarted after COVID-19 by senior Ashley Ball, focuses on community service projects. The club meets on Tuesdays at lunch in room 258 and plans volunteer opportunities outside of their meetings to help the community.
“My favorite part [of Interact Club] is that we bring tangible service projects [to our meetings] at lunch. Every day, you’re doing something: maybe you’re making cards, [or] you’re building homeless care kits. You’re doing something that’s making an impact on your community, and to me, that’s really meaningful and important,” Ball said.
Similarly, junior Avery Gunst enjoys helping students in the community by giving them a place to sell their artwork at local markets and pop-up sales. She co-founded the club Giants Studio with junior Izzy Marsh, which meets every other Friday in the ceramics room.
Gunst enjoys club day due to the diversity of the clubs.
“[My favorite part of club day is] seeing all the different clubs and people. [I enjoy] pitching our club and getting community engagement,” Gunst said.
Club Day allows students to spark new interests and meet new people. A list of all of the clubs offered for students is available on the Redwood High School website.
![Assistant Superintendent of Business and Operations Corbett Elsen presented an updated budget proposal for the 2026-27 fiscal year to the Tamalpais Union High School District (TUHSD) board of trustees on Tuesday, June 16.
Elsen presented an in-depth analysis of the district’s revenues, expenditures, future outlooks and the global and economic uncertainties affecting the district's revenue due to inflation and the war in Iran.
Because TUHSD is a basic-aid district, Elsen explained the significance of the housing market, stressing the gravity of the district’s financial situation as a result of lower demand.
“This is the bread and butter of our revenue: property tax revenues, [projected] to bring in over $93 million,” Elsen said, adding, “But ... we have decreased our revenue growth rate [projections].”
Elsen will return to the board of trustees on June 23, where the board will take formal action to adopt the proposed budget.
