The words “we own this place” echoed across the Redwood sidelines, on Friday, October 24th, as the boys varsity football team faced off against the Justin-Siena Braves in a decisive 45-0 shutout victory. The offensive powerhouse from the Giants jumped out quickly to a 21-0 lead by the half, with touchdowns from senior running backs Riley Ulin and Finn Reilly, along with wide receiver William D’Amario-McShane. The Giants were dominant with their run game, with seniors Elam Schiller, Ulin and Reilly again, all contributing in the Giants’ win. The Giants made a statement, scoring six touchdowns and a field goal, in their rout to victory.
Their defense also contributed by repeatedly shutting down the Braves as they failed to convert on three downs continuously. Their defensive efforts were capped off with an interception in the second half by senior captain Dylan McGrath, who later went on to score an offensive touchdown as well. Junior quarterback Cash Ward was consistent as he led the run-game calling plays, along with producing three passing touchdowns, guiding the Giants to a landslide win.
With this, the Giants’ record moves to 5-4, after another blowout win against Napa last week of 42-0. They hope to carry on this momentum with their sights now set on their next game against American Canyon High School, coming up at home on November 8th, at 2:00 p.m.
