On Oct. 17, 2025, the girls’ varsity tennis team faced off against Terra Linda High School in a competitive match that came out victorious.
With swift defeats by senior Indah Herzenberg (6-0, 6-0) and junior Julia Povio (6-1,6-1) in their respective singles matches, as well as impressive performances by sophomore doubles players Gabby Puentes and Allesia Balliet, the team eventually secured the win.
Povio, a high-ranking junior player who delivered a standout performance in her singles match, was back for her second match after recovering from a serious knee injury. She described her experience in one of her first matches back.
“I was able to stay consistent, stay focused, stay on my toes, and ultimately win the match,” said Povio. “All of us supporting each other is definitely helping; everyone now on the team is continuing to cheer each other on, and supporting each other has been really helpful in winning matches overall.”
Head coach Tracey Porter could be seen on the sidelines, giving encouraging comments and supportive advice, guiding the team towards a win. She has been focusing on sharpening the team as the Marin County Athletic League (MCALs) approach.
“We’re working on our fitness and doing a lot of drilling, and just playing [is important too],” said Porter.
