On Aug. 16, Palmetto Superfoods opened their eleventh Bay Area location in the Corte Madera Town Center where they serve a variety of smoothies and bowls made of authentic and nutritious ingredients. The franchise started in 2019 with its first location in the Richmond District of San Francisco, but continues to grow throughout the Bay Area. Their menu offers eight unique, ingredient packed bowls and ten colorful, nutrient filled smoothies, including the Carnaval Blend bowl and the Pacific Blend smoothie.

The Carnaval Blend bowl offers the most interesting flavor profile and comes in three sizes: small (8 oz) for $9.50, medium (16 oz) for $13.75 and large (24 oz) for $16.75. This bowl features a rich matchacado (green tea) and tart dragon fruit (pitaya) smoothie base topped with sweet kiwis and bananas, crunchy granola, pumpkin seeds and shredded coconut, all drizzled with condensed coconut milk for sweetness.
The combination of the strong and rich matcha, tart pitaya, sweet fruits and crunchy toppings bring the bowl to life. These contrasting flavor profiles balance each other out perfectly, bringing forth an addicting bite with antioxidant, magnesium and protein filled nutrients to provide you with energy all day.
The only problem with this bowl is the smoothie base to toppings ratio. Although the toppings brought the bowl together, there was an overwhelming amount compared to the base, creating a disproportionate bowl.

One of their most popular and colorful smoothies is the Pacific Blend smoothie which comes in a 16 oz. size for $10.95. This pink and blue marbled smoothie is mostly made up of tropical pitaya and crisp spirulina, as well as maple granola, blueberries, bananas, flax seeds and lion’s mane mushroom powder.
The blend of the pitaya and spirulina is deliciously decadent. The addition of the fruit, flax seeds and mushroom powder bring health benefits to the smoothie with their fiber, potassium, protein and antioxidants. Although this smoothie is so nutrient packed, it is a bit too sweet. The maple in the granola is over exaggerated and masks the tart and refreshing flavor that could have pleasantly come through in the pitaya and spirulina.
Overall, Palmetto Superfoods offers a diverse selection of smoothies and bowls that all have distinctive flavor and exquisite presentation. This new location is definitely a must try if you’re looking for a new healthy place to have a bite.
