The Giants started out strong, scoring three goals in the first quarter, two of which were scored by freshman Scarlett Lippiatt. Their early lead set the tone for the rest of the game, allowing for a victory.
On Tuesday, Oct. 14, girls’ varsity water polo dominated the Marin Catholic Wildcats, with a final score of nine to three. The Giants teamwork, communication and drive were all very important factors in allowing them to achieve their ultimate victory.
Junior Bea Pollard accredited the successful game to the strong chemistry that the team built this year.
“Our chemistry is really good this season, and we have finally clicked [as a team,]” Pollard said. “Knowing that someone’s there without even looking, and knowing that your teammates are there for you, has helped us fall into a rhythm.”
Lippiatt also highlighted that the team’s offense and defense played a big role in obtaining the win.
“We have gotten really good at counterattacks, and our defense is pretty good,” Lippiatt said.
Lippiatt also shared what the team needs to continue to do to keep up their wins for the rest of the season.
“As a team, we need to keep going hard, even if [we’re not playing against] the number one team,” Lippiatt said.
The Giants finished out the game strong, scoring three goals in the fourth quarter by senior Kate Morgan, freshman Tigerlily Engberg and junior Brooke Hansen, who also scored four total goals in the game.
With the win, the Giants have heightened momentum heading into their next game on Thursday, Oct. 16, at home against Terra Linda.
