On Thursday, May 8, the boys’ varsity lacrosse team’s season ended with a devastating loss against Tamalpais High School (Tam). The first quarter of the game was back and forth with goals from junior Rudy Vasquez and sophomore Emmet O’Neil. However, Tam came out on top by the end of the half, scoring five goals as the Giants’ offense failed to score in the second quarter. Redwood struggled with connecting their passes as they experienced turnover after turnover, and though senior Cameron Momsen had many great saves, by the end of the first half, Tam held a 5-2 lead. The second half started off poorly for the Giants as Tam scored three times, making the score 8-2 as the end of the third quarter neared.
In the last 50 seconds of the quarter, Redwood put in a goal allowing for a rush of momentum heading into the fourth quarter. The end of the game picked up when Vasquez scored again, followed by a goal from sophomore Matthew Delay. Less than 40 seconds later, senior Graham Weir scored, followed by two more goals for the Giants, tying the game with just over four minutes left. However, the streak ended when Tam scored in the last three minutes, ending the game 9-8, leaving the Giants with a tough loss.
