In today’s atmosphere, political tensions are particularly high with the passing of new legislation, removal of old legislation and more specifically, a new president. As social media apps like Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok continue to grow, students find themselves increasingly interested in the political content that appears through their formulated algorithms. Some of this content consists of various debates by key figures like right extremists Charlie Kirk and Andrew Tate, and progressive Dean Withers. Influencers like these can spread certain political rhetoric that inspires new political views in high school students, who are preparing to vote themselves. This video explores how Redwood students’ views have been altered and how they view certain trends on social media.
