College and Career Center Visits
The College and Career Center has begun college visits. These visits are presentations from admissions officers who will look at the college applications of Redwood High School students. The visits occur for the next several weeks before school at 7:45 a.m. or 8:15 a.m. and during lunch. The admissions officers present about their respective universities and colleges, aiming to educate students about their school’s academics, student life and unique programs. These presentations are designed to enhance students’ understanding of various universities, offering a broader perspective on higher education options. Some colleges and universities include, but are not limited to, the University Of California, Santa Barabra (UCSB); the University of Colorado, Boulder (CU); the University of Southern California (USC) and many more.
Delayed parking construction
The delayed parking construction project will involve installing solar panels in the east (back) parking lot. This project was supposed to occur during the Fall semester of the 2023-2024 school year but was first delayed until the summer of 2024 and then delayed again. The construction will include the installation of 1,335 solar panels covering the parking lot and 30 electrical vehicle car charging stations. The project is expected to save Tamalpais Union High School District $355,000 in energy costs. Solar-powered energy from the solar panels will be put into air conditioning and is expected to help lower Redwood’s carbon footprint.
CEA begins passing out food during passing periods
Redwood has rolled out a new program offering free snacks to students during passing periods, making it easier to grab a quick bite between classes. The available snacks include a selection of cereals, pastries and gluten-free options. The initiative to provide free food to students aims to ensure that everyone has access to nutritious food by making snacks readily available throughout the school day.
