The boys’ varsity basketball team soared over Justin-Siena last night, defeating them 64-38 on the Giants’ home court.
The Giants managed to win by a 26 point margin despite starting out poorly in the first half. According to junior Mike Sullivan, the Giants’ positive attitude in the second half enabled them to play well.
“We started out slow, so we had to make sure we didn’t play down to their level in the second half,” Sullivan said. “We had no energy [in the first half] so we came out harder in the second half and fed off each other’s positive energy.”
Although the game was close coming into the second half, the Giants were able to pull it together and start dominating the second half due to Justin-Siena’s lack of tall players, according to Sullivan.
“Them being small, and having our guys dominate on the rebounds, helped us get our heads together,” he said.
The boys play Terra Linda away this Friday, Feb. 6.
