In a contest dominated by lead changes and clutch shots, girls varsity basketball had fans on the edge of their seats as they secured a 47-46 overtime victory over the Acalanes Dons in the North Coast Section (NCS) semifinal round. Led by senior captains Kitty White and Brooke Denler, the Giants went back and forth with the Dons the entire game. Both teams refused to back down from their leads, creating a high-intensity matchup. The Giants fell behind 22-15 at halftime, but quickly readjusted entering the third quarter. White rose to the occasion, as she sank the game-winning layup in overtime, driving down the court and evading multiple defenders with seconds left in the game. With this win under their belts, the team’s final contest will come Friday, Feb. 27, versus the Heritage Patriots at 7 p.m. at Marin Catholic high school for a chance to win the NCS division one title.
