On Saturday, Jan. 11, boys’ varsity basketball matched up against the Marin Catholic Wildcats, who defeated the Giants twice last season. This time around, Redwood performed to the best of their abilities, turning those past defeats into present victories. Multiple standout seniors powered the Giants to victory; UC Berkeley commit Semetri “TT” Carr dropped 12 points, captain Noah Tanaka had 10 and senior Simon Leonard scored nine, powering a potent Redwood attack. While the Giants’ lead reached as many as 19 points, the Wildcats slowly crept back in the second half. With just two minutes to play, Redwood led just 55-52, but a tough defensive performance in the final minutes gave them the 59-54 victory. The boys will return to the court this Tuesday, Jan. 14, where they will play the San Rafael Bulldogs at home.
