With warm weather foreshadowing an exciting week, the Redwood community prepared for the Oct. 5 Homecoming dance with decorated hallways, rehearsed skits and spirited athletic competitions. On Monday, students came straight from bed in their comfortable pajamas for PJ day, followed by “Locals Only” on Tuesday, with each grade designated a city-themed outfit. On Wednesday, students sported the traditional red attire for the homecoming rally, before finally donning jerseys for Friday’s Jersey day. During Wednesday’s rally, each class performed their own respective skit; the time and effort spent practicing were reflected in their performances as students flipped and danced to music tailored to their grade’s city theme. The cheerleaders also showcased their tricks, working with varsity football players to pull off high-flying stunts. Friday’s Klassy Kickoff flag football game was an absolute blowout, with the class of 2025 winning for the second year in a row, beating the class of 2026 21-0. On Saturday, Redwood’s football team faced off against Casa Grande High School in a scorching match played, with temperatures reaching 98 degrees. Despite their efforts, they lost 34-0. The week’s events finally concluded with the homecoming dance, where students enjoyed each other’s company and celebrated the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
