On Oct. 4th, the annual “Klassy Kickoff” game between the junior and senior girls took place. For the second year in a row, the class of 2025 won big, with a 21-0 victory over the class of 2026. Maya Saibel, the quarterback for the seniors, showcased her skills throughout the whole game, scoring two touchdowns on offense and playing stellar defense. Charlotte Lacy scored the other touchdown for the seniors while also snagging an interception.
Although the junior girls lost the game, they put up a strong fight. Wide receiver Holly Thomas had a couple of catches and very close attempts at scoring a touchdown. She also enjoyed hearing her teammates cheering her name as she ran down the field.
“I got the ball a couple times, which is really fun, and it’s really exciting to hear everyone cheer you on. It is cool to hear your name being announced on the loudspeaker,” said Thomas.
As the clock ticked towards the final minutes of the game, Lacy unfortunately fell with an ankle injury. Both teams took a knee in solidarity, and the game ended soon after. The Powderpuff game marked the final event of Homecoming before the dance on Saturday evening.
