On Wednesday, Sept. 25, the girls’ varsity volleyball team played an intense game against Tamalpais High School (Tam). The Giants emerged victorious and are now 3-0 in the Marin County Athletic League (MCAL).
Redwood had a strong start as they dominated the first set 25-15 with impressive performances from senior Ella Moran and sophomore Madeleine Wagner. The Giants stayed consistent in the second set, as seniors Neeva Gaine and Hanna Smith held it down with numerous blocks at the net; they won this set 25-23. However, the score took a turn in the third set as Tam got their revenge, winning 21-25. Going into the fourth set, the Giants were up 2-1, and they looked to seal the victory. It was at this point in the game that the Giants came together with a dominant offensive performance to put the game away, destroying Tam in the fourth set 25-15.
The Giants take on rival Marin Catholic (MC) on Friday, Sept. 27 at MC, where they will fight to take their overall record of 14-1 to 15-1 and stay undefeated in league play.
