On March 5, the varsity boys’ baseball team faced off against the San Rafael High School Bulldogs in their third Marin County Athletic League (MCAL) game. The Giants, coming off a win last Saturday against the Branson Bulls, came out hot in the first inning; senior starting pitcher Chas Veley got three easy outs in the top of the inning, and then senior Rex Solle and sophomore Jack Moseley both drove a run in to give the Giants a 2-0 lead. From there, the Giants easily sailed to a victory, adding on two more runs in the bottom of the third, again with Solle and Moseley driving in a run each. Sophomore Theo Trono tripled to the wall in the 5th inning, driving in junior Sam Gersch, before scoring a run of his own on another Solle hit. The Giants would finish the game with a 7-1 win over the Bulldogs. Veley threw four innings with no earned runs and seven strikeouts, followed by two shutout innings from Moseley. Junior Matthew Knauer got the last three outs for the Giants, securing the victory. Junior Miles Harrison contributed with a double down the right field line and Gersch reached base twice, scoring each time. The Giants will face off against the Bulldogs again this Friday at San Rafael High School.
