On May 23, the varsity softball team faced the Livermore Cowboys in the girls’ North Coast Section semifinals. Although the team fought hard, they lost against the Cowboys by a final score of 8-2. Starting off strong in the first inning, the Giants were the first to score. Their early momentum did not last long though as the Cowboys came back, scoring four runs in the third inning. With the stress high, the Giants were able to keep the Cowboys silent in the next inning, striking out the side. However as the game continued, the Cowboys gained back their momentum and scored twice again, making the score 6-1. This prompted an immediate response by the Giants, scoring their last run by freshman Stella Belluomini in the seventh inning, but unfortunately it was not enough as the girls could not mount a big enough comeback. Despite the difficult outcome, the Giants kept a positive attitude and were able to reflect on their very successful season as the Marin County Athletic League Champions.
