Few students riding their bikes to school

With the re-opening of Doherty Drive and the winter weather coming, fewer students may feel the incentive to ride their bikes to school.

When Doherty drive closed two months ago, many students took up biking to school. On National Bike to School Day, over 250 students, 16 percent of Redwood, biked to school.  That is about twice as many as the average number of students who biked to school last week.

On Monday 119 students biked to school, and 127 on Tuesday. On Wednesday 122 students biked, or about 8 percent of Redwood.

On Thursday and Friday, however, as the weather got colder, the number of cyclists dropped — only 6 percent of the student population biked to school.
