The girls’ varsity field hockey team completed their rigorous season with a 0-0 tie against Berkeley High this Tuesday afternoon.
The tie contributed to the team’s success, which was the result of several tied games and one win against Marin Catholic.
Redwood showcased their powerful offense throughout the game, but was met by stout defense from Berkeley which was strong enough to preserve the 0-0 score.
The majority of the game was led by Redwood, and the ball rarely ventured near the home team’s goal.
Junior Neeve Kennedy played an impressive game, leading the team with multiple attempted shots and strong offense.
“If we just get really wide and pass the ball and use each other, I think it’s the best strategy to go and score,” Kennedy said.
Before the game, seniors Hayden Dean, Kendra Loo, Kaylee Bushell, and Emily Caindec were given flowers and a poster in celebration of their final field hockey season.
“Although I’m sad I won’t be here as the program progresses, I know that this team is really going to thrive,” said Loo. “I am so glad that I got the opportunity to play.”
