The boys’ varsity baseball team closed out a strong regular season, with a 3-2 win at Marin Catholic’s home turf on Thursday, May 14.
The first hit of the game came from leadoff batter senior Devin Pence who was then batted in by a double from senior Riley Overend. In the fifth inning, a hit by sophomore Aubrey Sine allowed junior Parker Laret to score, making the game 3-1 Giants.
Pitcher Zach Cohen threw three strikeouts, gave up six hits, and walked three players.
With several competitive teams going into the MCAL Playoffs, the Giants look to win the pennant for the first time in five years.
“Everyone in the MCALS is pretty good, we faced all the teams and they all put up a good fight so no one is a easy competitor,” Cohen said.
By finishing in first place in the regular season, the Giants earned a first round playoff bye and will play their next game in the second round against an undecided opponent at Albert’s Park on Thursday, May 21.
