During a timeout in the boys’ varsity basketball game against Tam on Tuesday, Redwood’s mascot, Big Red, jokingly attempted to bribe a referee…with a dollar.
Big Red approached the ref with a dollar in hand, but the ref thought he was going for a handshake…
so the ref was surprised when he realized Big Red was offering money.
Apparently the referee handbook says it’s a big no-no to accept bribes…
but Big Red persisted…
and with a smile on his face…
the ref resisted.
He appreciated Big Red’s joke…
pleased the crowd…
and took the dollar to return to its original owner.
But the ref messed with Big Red one last time…
by pulling the bill away when Big Red reached to get it back.
