The boys’ freshmen basketball team defeated Justin Siena in their first MCAL game of the season at home on Friday night.

The 64-47 victory was due in part to the Giants’ high-tempo offense and resilient defense, resulting in many turnovers and breakaway points.

“We’re always looking to make the other team uncomfortable, always looking to double team and fast break,” said head coach Conor Flaherty.

Redwood held the lead throughout the game starting early with a first quarter score of 20-13, which continued into halftime expanding their lead to 36-24.  At the end of the third quarter, the Giants were still up 48-34, concluding in a 17 point victory.

Charlie Reis led the team with 19 points, while James Murphy put up another 18.

Redwood beat San Rafael in their following game on Tuesday.
