On Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. Redwood’s wrestling team squared off in a close meet against Albany High School, with no team hold more than a 6 point lead for most of the game, but Redwood ended with the victory and a score of 48-36.

Redwood started slowly, with Albany claiming the first three matches. This gave the other team an early 18-0 lead.

However with a couple key victories Redwood was able to close the lead.

Senior Ricky Couto, a lightweight weighing in at 138 pounds, led the comeback overpowering his opponent and pinning him to floor quickly, resulting in a six points victory.

The next matches were a mix of defeats from us and forfeits from the other team, which kept the game within a six-point margin for most of the game.

Redwood’s Kenneth Berreman won his match as well, which put the score at 36-36.

The game concluded with two more forfeits from Albany resulting in a 48-36 victory.
