What even are the hiccups? Why do we get them?
According to Healthline, a hiccup occurs when the diaphragm contracts quickly, causing the muscles of the chest and abdomen to shake. This causes the glottis, the part of your throat that houses your vocal cords, to close. The result is air being expelled from your lungs which ultimately creates the “hic” sound.
A few reasons why we get the hiccups are:
- Eating too much.
- Excitement or stress.
- Experiencing sudden temperature changes.
- Swallowing air, such as when chewing gum or smoking.Several studies have demonstrated that females have better handwriting than males. Researchers from the University of Warwick wrote that, “Girls generally have better handwriting than boys, both in terms of the quality of their handwriting overall and in terms of the formation of letters. They also tend to write faster.” Additionally, according to a study conducted in 2003, “Untidy handwriting scored high for male gender roles, whereas tidy handwriting scored high for female gender roles.”
Is having a good singing voice genetic?

Physiology affects the timbre, the perceived sound quality of a musical note, of your voice and some singers are naturally born with a good vocal apparatus. However, there are other factors that contribute to a great singer. Don’t worry if singing isn’t in your genes – learning to sing is a multifaceted process and you can become a good musician in many different ways. Genetics play an important role in your voice, but they aren’t the entire story.
