Team program to continue next year

Citing the benefits for those who enroll as well as the vast outpour of community support, the Board of Trustees and Superintendent Laurie Kimbrel announced today that the Team program previously considered for elimination will continue next year.

In an open letter, Board President John Wright and Kimbrel thanked those who shared their thoughts on the Team program during the board meeting last Wednesday, while promising to join in a collaborative effort to promote more student diversity in the one year alternative education program.

“The board also expressed interest in a collaborative effort between administration and Team staff so that the recruitment efforts can be expanded to encourage a greater variety of students to apply…” Wright and Kimbrel wrote.

There will be no official vote on the issue, as no board action is needed for an existing program to continue.

Kimbrel and Wright also announced the formation of a new committee that was briefly mentioned during Wednesday’s board meeting.

“More information will be coming later this year regarding the innovative programming research and advisory committee,” they wrote.
