Last week, freshmen prepared for their first high school finals during the annual Cocoa and Cram study session.
Sponsored by Link Crew, the event lets freshmen receive one-on-one support from participating teachers to prepare for their finals.
“It’s a simple little idea that’s become a tradition at this school,” said social studies teacher Ted Brown. Brown was one of seven teachers that helped freshmen review for their semester finals.
“You get to work with teachers that you usually don’t have,” said freshman Jenna Hassell. “I was just with Mr. Gucciardi, and I don’t normally have him.”
Louis Bellman, freshman, also found the assistance he needed through teacher support.
“So far, it’s been helpful,” he said.
Alexandra Nicolopoulos, junior and Link Crew tutor, said that she thought it was useful for freshmen to get help from upperclassmen.
“Since we took the classes already, I feel like it’s really helpful for them,” Nicolopoulos said.
Teachers and Link Crew members were present from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to support the more than 70 studious freshmen that showed up.
Despite the assistance received, some said that they wished that more teachers were available for help.
“Not that many teachers were here which was kind of disappointing but it was still nice to study at school,” said freshman Jonah Goodman.
