Symphonic band and wind ensemble play winter concert

The wind ensemble performs in the Redwood gym.

The Symphonic Band and the Wind Ensemble performed their winter concert Dec. 6, in the gym.

Both bands, directed by John Mattern, played to parents and students alike at 7 P.M.

The band played amongst the white lights which were strung on the walls of the gym.

The Symphonic Band performed two sets and the Wind Ensemble performed seven. One of the nine songs was “Sleigh Ride”, which the Wind Ensemble performed as a sight reading, meaning they had not practiced the song before, and were just playing it from the music.

Sophomore trombone player Bailey Ferguson is a new edition to the Wind Ensemble this year, and said it was a smooth transition.

“It’s a really close community,” she said.
