Girls’ varsity volleyball defeated MCAL rival Branson on Senior Night this Tuesday. Redwood swept Branson in three consecutive sets by scores of 25-17, 26-24, and 25-16, respectively.

Redwood was led by senior Elly Lundberg’s strong defensive effort and her 20 digs, along with fellow senior Margo Spaethling’s 12 kills and four blocks. Their combined efforts helped Redwood continue its undefeated MCAL season.

“I’m proud of the way the team banded together to repeat a win against our number one rival this season. It was a good way to complete an already amazing Senior Night,” junior McKenzie Cooke said.

Backed by their energetic fans, the team was able to battle back from a four-point deficit late in the second set for the win.

Before the game, seniors Lily Barber, Kylie Kvam, Amanda Lamar, Elly Lundberg, Margo Spaethling, and Adelaide Shunk were honored with flowers and speeches from head coach Katie Pease and fellow players, thanking them for their commitment to the team throughout the past four years.

The team will play their last MCAL game at San Rafael on Thursday at 6 p.m.
