Performances ranged from a slow blues version of, “Addicted to You,” performed by junior Marita Prodger and sophomore Kate Garrison, to a hard rock hit, “Rock and Roll Aint Noise Pollution,” performed by senior Nicholas Vogel, freshman Sam Vogel, senior Vittoria Naify, and sophomore Jake Kristy.

To start off the show, the Youth in Arts program, which consists of students from the special education room 116, as well as students from performance workshop,  played a drum ensemble. This two minute drum line used  a-follow the-leader pattern with each student getting a solo.

For four year music student Nicholas Vogel, this performance was one of his last at Redwood.

“This was the second to last performance for me this year. I am disappointed and a little sad,” Vogel said, “I wish we had nailed some of these [songs] harder. We screwed up, but in a way you learn more from that, and I am going to remember these experiences for a long time.”

With only three intermediate and advanced performance workshop shows left in the year, senior Vittoria Naify reflected on her progress in the music program.

“Even though I have only been in the department for two years, I feel like I have grown a lot,” Naify recalled. “Although I did not enjoy the music theory classes, I do think that everything else Mr. Mattern does is really helpful. Frequent performances really helped me get over my stage fright,” Naify said.

The Intermediate Performance Workshop will have their final concert on Tues, June 2, followed by the last Advanced Performance Workshop concerts on Wed, June 3, and Thur, June 4.
