Although the Giants started off to a rocky start, they were able to pull away with the first win of their season late in the game.
Down by two with two outs in the sixth inning and the bases loaded, San Marin Pitcher Nicholas Corbani walked in two Redwood baserunners to tie the game 4-4.
This was just the start to the late rally by Redwood. Senior Adam Hussain stepped up to the plate with three runners on base and hit a line drive to center field, scoring another two points and giving Redwood a 6-4 lead over San Marin.
“I struggled today and our team fought back from being down and it shows the heart and will we have to win,” said senior pitcher Tyler Peck.
The Giants are now 6-1 (1-0 in MCAL). Their next game is at Branson today at 4:30.
