The boys’ varsity golf team, the defending MCAL champions, defeated Terra Linda on Thursday, by a score of 234-338, at the StoneTree Golf Club.

“It’s good to get a win on our back for the season to come,” said Nick Laub, co-captain of the golf team.

Led by Laub and co-captain Yoshio Boris, the golf team is currently 2-0.  Their first triumph, a win versus the Drake golf team resulting in a close score of 215-219, the game was close until the 3rd pair of golfers played their rounds and pulled away.

“We all scored what we needed to score, but the guys who saved our team were Mitchell Zhang, and Sander French.  They came in as the third group, and won us the match,” said Laub.

The golf team will face an intimidating Branson squad this year, led by standout golfer Miguel Delgado.

“I think Branson will be a tough group to beat for every team this year.  They have a very good chance at [winning] the MCAL season this year and the fact that they’re a very old and experienced team, like us, does help,”  Boris said.

Redwood’s  next match will be against San Rafael High School at the Meadow Club on Monday, March 2.
