Homecoming court announced

Homecoming+court+announced

The Redwood Homecoming court was announced yesterday in anticipation of this year’s Homecoming Week.

The senior class voted for the court, comprised of twelve senior boys and girls, last week, according to Tom Cline, one of the week’s planners.

The court pairings for the year are Doug Pardella and Celeste Carswell, Will Finnie and Kally Watson, Will Simmonds and Olivia Konttinen, Zach Dubin and Megan Daly, Mitch Thompson and Maddie Bailey, and Tyler Jackson and Megan Oeschel, according to Cline.

“It was kind of easy because three of the people on the court were couples… and others share activities like Bark,” Cline said.

Homecoming Week will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 23rd, because of a Staff Development Day Monday, and continue into the weekend.

“[The week] is going to be shorter, so we are trying to fit more in and make everything that does happen special,” Cline said.

Saturday will consist of the Homecoming football game against Drake, at which the Homecoming king and queen will be crowned. It will conclude with the annual Homecoming Dance that evening, according to the ASB schedule.

From Tuesday through Friday of that week, the Homecoming Court will participate in various activities during lunch such as Karaoke on Tuesday and the “Guys Make Over Girls” Thursday.

“[The Guys Make Over Girls is] will be funny to watch,” Cline said. “We bought a bunch of random dotty, ridiculous costumish makeup, and the guys will be putting it on the girls.”

Spirit days will also take place throughout the week, including PJ day on Tuesday and the traditional Redwood Spirit Day on Thursday accompanying the rally.

The Powder Puff football game will take place Thursday during lunch, with the seniors playing for their first title before graduation.
