Heavy rains cause flooding in back parking lot

The back parking lot was closed during fifth period today due to clogged drains and excessive flooding in the surrounding area. As the tide rolled in, custodians and maintenance staff were forced to close the parking lot to prevent cars from damages.

Students were then advised to stay on campus during lunch today in order to avoid congested roadways and and flooding near Highway 101. Despite warnings from the administration, many students still decided to go to lunch.

The Marin City exit on 101 southbound was closed due to flooding. The flooding was first reported at 3:22 a.m., blocking one lane near the state Highway 1 onramp and eventually making its way towards Tamalpais High School, according to CBS Local.

Senior Grayson Noyes was one of the several students who still went out to lunch.

“Even though the administration advised against it, I felt that I could easily make it back in time,” Noyes said.

With rain forecast through the rest of the week more flooding and slowed road conditions can be expected.
