Girls’ varsity water polo secures their MCALs spot

The girls varsity water polo team defeated Terra Linda 9-5 on Tuesday, Oct. 28 during their last home game of the season.

With six wins and four losses in the league, Tuesday’s win gained the team a spot in MCALs. They are now ranked sixth in the league.

The match was off to a quick start when captain Lucy Tantum scored the first goal within the opening five minutes of the game. By the end of the first quarter, the score was 2-0.

Redwood continued to overpower Terra Linda with their offense, scoring three more points during the second quarter while Terra Linda only scored once.

Juniors Jennafer Schoonover, Sophie Parker, and Madi Barsi each scored two points throughout the match while junior Katie Isaacson, freshman Caitlin Donnelly, and senior Tantum each scored one.

Terra Linda’s offensive attack didn’t start until later in the fourth quarter when they scored three of their five points.

The varsity girls’ next match will be their first playoff game on Thursday, Oct. 30 at Tam.
