The boys’ varsity water polo team started their MCAL season off strong, with a 16-2 dominating win over Marin Academy on Wednesday.

Senior Brandon West spiraled in an impressive seven goals, making him the top scoring player of the game. Several other players attributed to the large point finish, including captain Giorgio Cico and senior Abe Massik.

Senior Grayson Noyes played a poised and aggressive game as goalie, and was only scored on during the second and third quarter.

Redwood scored three goals in the first quarter, two in the second, seven in the third, and four in the fourth.

This year the varsity team has a starting lineup of  all seniors, which, according to West gives them a clear shot at winning MCALs.

“This is our golden year,” West said. “Without a doubt, we are the most well rounded team in MCALs.”

The team’s stellar lineup has risen their confidence. Massik said every team they play against will result in a similar, triumphant outcome, except for the game against their biggest rivals and MCAL title holders, Drake.

The team’s next home game is against Sir Francis Drake High School, on Tuesday, Sept. 30.
