Freshman boys’ baseball beats Terra Linda

The freshman boys’ baseball team breezed by Terra Linda to win their third consecutive game of the season on Wednesday, March 12 at home.

In the MCAL opener, the Giants won 12-0 due in part to shut down pitching, and consistent offense throughout the game.

“The boys have been very successful due to their hard work and discipline coming in from our winter ball league,” said head coach Rich Epidendio. “We’ve been at this for about four months now, and we’ve been able to get in many practices thanks to great weather and it’s starting to reflect how they play on the field.”

Left-handed pitcher Tyler Warren started the game and took care of the Terra Linda lineup as he pitched three scoreless innings.

Aubrey Sine helped the Giants take the lead by hitting a double in the first inning to make it 2-0. Aubrey later went on to pitch the final inning for the Giants and closed the game with a quick three outs.

Zach Tonnere pitched two scoreless innings with a total of three strikeouts as well as a double to knock in a few extra runs.

Other players such as Ashton Finegold who tripled in the 5th inning, and Riley Marsh scored twice for the Giants, played large roles offensively in this game.

The next freshman game is on Saturday against San Marin where they hope to win their fourth game in a row and acquire their second MCAL win.
