No matter your curl type – coily, loose, or tight, all curly-haired women grow up surrounded by societal pressures and standards. Four teenage girls – Erin, Noora, Mia, and Riley – each with a history of straightening their hair – share their stories of navigating these societal pressures and accepting themselves. Through each of their different experiences with self-acceptance, whether it be their journey with race, childhood, or beauty standards, each girl finds their definition of going back to their roots.
