“It was a great feeling, especially for the whole team,” Nate Tsang, senior, said. “I was really excited we were able to do it.”
The win came one day after a 12-inning game, the second longest of the season.
“It was the most exciting game in my four years of high school baseball,” Tsang said. “There was no down moments at all.”
In less than 24 hours the players found themselves on Albert’s field again, this time playing for the championship.
“We knew it was a good team,” Stephen Siegel said. “It was going to be a hard game so we had to stay sharp.”
Unfortunately the team did not have the luxury of having a practice in between the games.
“It was back-to-back games so there was no practice,” Siegel said. “The week before, we stayed focused by taking batting and fielding practice.”
With the coach unable to attend some games this season they felt they had him there in spirit.
“The game was dedicated to him,” Siegel said. “Obviously we wanted to win but that was an added incentive.”
