A standout volleyball player and student, Michaela Sinrod has proven to be a dominant force in the MCAL throughout her four-year varsity career.
Sinrod won first team all-MCAL player her junior and senior years. She also led her team to the MCAL champions-hip game both years. In addition to her high performance on the court, she has maintained a 4.14 GPA, earning her the Senior Student Athlete of the Year award.
This fall, Sinrod plans to attend Tufts University, where she will play for their Division III volleyball team.
“I can’t really explain how I feel about playing in college,” Sinrod said. “I’ve played nonstop for the past eight years of my life, so I couldn’t see myself doing anything else. I’m excited to play at a whole new level of competition.”
Sinrod, who originally loathed the idea of playing volleyball, said without her dad’s encouragement she never would have joined the sport.
“I loved soccer, but was horrible at it,” Sinrod said. “In fifth grade my dad signed me up for volleyball instead of soccer. I hated the idea but once I started playing, I loved it and never went back to soccer again.”
Although Sinrod occasionally gets frustrated having to play volleyball all year, she claims she could never live without it.
“I play for a club team outside of school so the season is basically all year long,” Sinrod said. “Sometimes I do complain about it, but if I didn’t play, my life just wouldn’t be the same.
