Unveiling the district’s parental leave policies

On Oct. 15, Governor Jerry Brown vetoed a bill that would have granted teachers and other academic employees of California schools a minimum of six weeks of paid maternity leave.

“I believe further decisions regarding leave policies for school employees are best resolved through the collective bargaining process at the local level,” Brown said in his official statement.
