Redwood boys varsity volleyball lost to Marin Catholic in the MCAL finals on Friday May 6 after putting up a valiant effort.

Marin Catholic dominated the first set, winning 25-15. The MC varsity squad brought a heated performance headed by Sam Newsome, who got 17 kills during the game.

Galvanized from their near decimation in the first set, Redwood displayed heightened ferocity in set two. Redwood brought their all, tailing MC closely, but eventually succumbed to MC’s all-out intensity.

In set three Redwood had their last opportunity to take home the win, but slowly began to trail MC by around five points. Giving a final push, Redwood scored three consecutive points, but it wasn’t enough. Marin Catholic got their final kill and won the game.

“I just feel like we didn’t really have it tonight, we’ve had a really great season all year, but tonight when we started we were just a bit off, and I feel like that really carried out through the night. Everyone tried their hardest and we still have a ways to go so I have high hopes for NCS,” said sophomore Jason Silberman.
