The Giants held a 1-0 lead over Marin Catholic as the top of the sixth inning came around. Senior Parker Laret started a Redwood rally when he reached base on a dropped third strike.

Junior Henry Zeisler then followed up with a single as Laret ran to third and then stole home on an error as Zeisler advanced to third to bring the Giants to a 2-0 lead. Senior Zach Cohen’s bunt sent Zeisler home and raised the lead to 3-0.

The Giants would hold onto the lead and emerge victorious by a score of 3-2, but not without a scare from Marin Catholic, whose late-game rally fell just short.

The Giants got their first run in the top of the third when junior Aubrey Sine singled to knock in sophomore Josh Cohen.

“Once the first run came in, the rest of the team was able to relax and execute,” junior Aubrey Sine said.

Marin Catholic scored a run in the bottom of the 6th inning after three consecutive singles to knock in junior Casey Armusewicz and make the score 3-1.

“I loved the fight we had towards the end of the game, but a couple big mistakes cost us the game,” Marin Catholic pitcher Brandon Buckley said.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Marin Catholic trimmed the lead to one after a series of singles and a sacrifice fly from senior Peter Armusewicz.

“In the end, Redwood executed and played great defense and that was the difference,” Buckley said.

The Giants play their next game at home against San Marin on Friday.
