All schools in the Tamalpais Union High School District (TUHSD) will be cancelled on Thursday due to expected foul weather, Principal David Sondheim reported on Wednesday afternoon.

Weather services are reporting that North Bay residents should expect three to five inches of rain tomorrow, according to the Larkspur-Corte Madera Patch. The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for the Bay Area.

Cheers resounded throughout the Redwood hallways as Sondheim made his announcement over the intercom—but a missed day so close to finals week made some students nervous.

“I think it’s bad because I’ll have less time to prepare [for finals],” senior Bela Souza said. “I’m missing two block periods that are really important for my finals.”

Junior Riley Dow was more optimistic about the prospect of staying home for a day, describing the unexpected announcement as “pretty awesome.”

Teacher David Plescia agreed with the decision to close school and said that he was already emailing his final review sheet to his students.

“If there’s potential danger tomorrow, it’s nice that the school is taking a proactive measure to keep everyone safe,” Plescia said.

TUHSD feeder schools will also be closed tomorrow. School officials will determine tomorrow whether school will be cancelled on Friday.
