The Corte Madera library will be closing on Nov. 27 to undergo renovations made possible by a tax measure passed several years ago to fund library improvements.

These improvements will include mobile shelving units in the front to hold the higher-demand items like DVDs.

“[The] main idea is to make the area more welcoming and allow people to have a better browsing experience,” said head librarian Julie Magnus.

Additionally, there will only be one service desk, combining the resources of the currently separate reference and circulation desks. A teen section will also be added, with tables and lounge chairs.

The library is set to reopen on Dec. 16. The staff hopes to be able to continue hosting late study sessions for Redwood students at the end of the semester. Some improvements have already been implemented, including better accessibility for wheelchairs, with doors that are now able to automatically open, according to Magnus.
