The girls’ varsity volleyball team swept Marin Catholic in three games during Wednesday night’s matchup at Redwood.
Before the game, coaches and teammates honored Bailey Osborn, Gina Schumacher, and Annie Williams for Senior Night – their final regular season home game of their high school careers.
“I love the way the girls are playing. The teamwork is fantastic and the seniors are being great leaders,” head coach Katie Pease said.
The Giants won the first game 25-19, the second 25-20, and finished strong with another 25-20 victory.
“We kept the ball away from their best player,” Pease said. “That just changed everything for us in terms of how we had to match up defensively.”
Bailey Osborn and junior Elly Lundberg led Redwood with nine kills apiece to go along with eight from sophomore Claire Jackson. Sophomore Mari Molina led the Giants with 23 assists and Schumacher had 12.
With the win, Redwood looks forward to their rematch versus rival Branson on Oct. 28, and the upcoming playoffs.
“Where we were when we played them last time to where we are now, we’re moving in the right direction,” Pease said. “They haven’t lost yet and we have one loss. We’re in a much better position now just the way we’ve improved than the last time we played them.”
