Boys’ varsity soccer ties Terra Linda with last minute goal

The boys’ varsity soccer team managed to tie Terra Linda 1-1 with a goal by senior Miguel Rodriguez in the final thirty seconds of Tuesday’s game.

According to Rodriguez, after Terra Linda took the lead, the reason Redwood leveled the score was because the team never dwelled on the fact that there was only five minutes to go.

“We kept the intensity up all the way through and ended up scoring because of it,” Rodriguez said.

The tie, in what was one of the most important games of their entire season because of the standings situation, brings the Giants just three points behind Terra Linda and one point behind San Rafael in MCALs going into their final game today against San Rafael.

According to captain Teymour Sadrieh, the team looked much better than they did the first time they played Terra Linda despite tying the game in the final seconds.

“In the game of soccer, you can never give up at any point,” Sadrieh said. “I think we looked a lot better than they did today.”

The boys will seek to grab either the first or second seed in the playoffs if they can pull off a win Thursday against San Rafael.

“If we can carry this momentum through to the playoffs, I think we’re set to win it all,” Sadrieh said.
