Only two games into the season, the boys’ varsity soccer team is off to a rough start.

In Friday’s game, the team managed to tie Maria Carillo with a final score of 2 to 2.

Junior James Ingledew scored the first goal approximately 20 minutes into the game.  The second goal, which occurred later in the game, was made by one of the team’s captains, senior Teymour Sadrieh.

Though the team scored two goals, it wasn’t enough to win. Maria Carrillo also managed to score two goals against Redwood’s goalie Brannon Dwyer.

The team lost their first game against Marin Academy on Aug. 27. Despite the team’s poor start, Sadrieh still has an optimistic outlook on the season.

“I think technically we are looking good, but we could be in a lot better shape,” he said.

While this year the team does lack Sasha Boussina, last year’s main scorer who led the team to the MCAL finals, Sadrieh is still hopeful.

“It’s probably going to be a lot less one sided. [Boussina] scored most of our goals but I think the goals now are going to come from a lot more people,” said Sadrieh.

Next Wednesday, the team will take on Montgomery High School in hopes of taking home a victory.
