Lacrosse players earn all-league awards

Lacrosse+players+earn+all-league+awards

The all-league honors for boys’ and girls’ varsity lacrosse were announced this week, with senior Liam Bourke winning the MCAL player of the year award, the first Redwood player to win the award since Tyler Simmons in 2009.

Bourke was also recently named to the U.S Lacrosse All-American team by the NorCal chapter. He will be playing Division One lacrosse at the University of Michigan next year.

Seniors Ariella Rosenthal of the girls’ varsity team and Patrick Tracy, Matthew Kennis and Oliver Madison of the boys’ varsity team were awarded first-team honors. Rosenthal was awarded first-team honors last year, while Tracy and Kennis were awarded first-team their sophomore and junior years.

Senior Julia Schnoll and sophomore Hayden Dean of the girls’ varsity team were awarded second-team honors as were seniors Jonathan Gibbs and Peter Mascheroni of the boys’ varsity team.

Sophomores Carli Jacks and Emma Mulvey earned honorable mentions while senior Carl Mesker and freshman Jack Elders earned honorable mentions for the boys’ team.

The boys’ varsity lacrosse team experienced an undefeated run in MCAL this season, capping it off with a victory over Novato in the MCAL final. The girls’ varsity lacrosse team went 8-2 in MCAL play and lost to Novato in the semi-finals of the MCAL playoffs.
